Paul Graham puts it <a href="http://www.paulgraham.com/good.html">best of all</a>, speaking about business.
The same applies to life in general - you need to be a positive person to live better.
If you think of any things, material and not as flows of energy - atoms, thoughts, events, emotions - you can make a conclusion that producing some type of energy you attract the same type to yourself. So, if you are full of anger, if you have fears, if you indulge in negative emotions you will find yourself constantly attracting negative energy - mean people, discouraging thoughts, lies, and bad events.
On the other hand if you hope for good, if you see positive things in people, if you are open and ready to communicate, the result will be corresponding - enjoyable things, good leisure, interesting work, and more happiness in life.
Let's look at two examples:
A) Dull job, disconnection with relatives, no friends, adsense or miscommunication with a beloved one, fears, anger, disappointment, and desperation.
B) Interesting job, fine house, a car that you've been dreaming about, happy family, enjoying spending time together, good friends, interesting hobbies, wish to be happy and to experiment.
What differs examples A and B is only energy organization. The human race doesn't know a lot about energy and how to control it but I bet these examples are not far from each other if you know how to reorganize energy around you.
The only working method people came up with so far is being good. Thus you can attract all the good things in life.
Be positive. Radiate and attract positive energy.
